After a miserable week, I decided to take a mental health break & head out to my favorite vacation spot – Durban Point Waterfront. I planned to stay at an airbnb for 2 nights – just me, myself & I. Sometimes we just need a break from reality, and I’m glad I said yes to this plan that my other personality came up with. Here’s a few highlights from my solo stay:
Not So Slumber
I reached the airbnb around 6pm and got settled in. The weather was icey & the apartment was right across the harbor so I knew I’m in for a cold evening. I was minding my business & scrolling through YouTube on the TV, checking previous occupants’ search history hehe, when my fiance called & said he brought food. I enjoyed the visitor’s company & he went on his way. That’s when it started feeling empty. It dawned on me that I’m all alone, in a new place…Shit. Thanks to my paranoia, I tossed and turned the whole entire night. Yunno how every place has random sounds? Those kept me up, obviously I thought someone was gonna break in & kidnap me. My sleep kept breaking & I kept checking my phone. Until I checked and it was already 6am.
Sunrise Surprise
When I say I had a horrible nights’ sleep, I mean it. At this point I decided to wake tf up anyway. I headed straight to the bathroom to do my human business & when I was done, made a cup of coffee. I remembered that I wanted to go out onto the balcony, because I didn’t see much the previous night – it was pretty dark. I drew the curtain back and literally gasped at the most beautiful sunrise! I was not expecting that at all. I rushed to document it, and I realized how amazing the view was. This was the most beautiful surprise.

Fans
If I could ban something from Earth it would be bugs, I hate those bastards. A whole bunch of them decided to give me company on this trip. There were tiny bugs in the kitchen drawers, the bathroom sink & crawling up the nightstand (crying face emoji). This was supposed to be a peaceful trip and I am nothing without bug spray. However, I persevered.
Pretty Elevator Girl
My Uber Eats guy was already outside while I was waiting for the elevator. When the doors finally opened, there was a girl already inside. She looked so good – she wore a short black leather skirt paired with a white cropped top & strappy heels. I’m assuming she got her hair done – it was straight, long & black. Her makeup was flawless, the lashes got me. She was friendly too, holding the elevator for me & making small talk. Everything about her was just so pretty, definitely an honorable mention.
Couple Caught Canoodling
Later that evening, my fiance popped in & we went out for a drive. I got back to the place and headed straight to the balcony for some reason – the sliding door was already opened and the lights outside looked pretty. I stepped outside and something to my left caught my eye – there was a young couple on the balcony right next to me. I didn’t run back inside, instead I literally leaped & rolled over into the fetal position while cringing in awkwardness. From what I saw, they seemed to be super lovey dovey – she stood against the railing and had her arms wrapped around his neck & his wrapped around her waist, I swear they were about to kiss. I truly hope I did not ruin that moment for them, I wonder if they saw me and just dispersed, or maybe they didn’t & went on to do cute couple things hehe (I’m jealous). Anyway, that was awkward.
I’d say my solo vacay was quite eventful. I saw a pretty sunrise, fought for my life against criminal bugs, danced, sang, and took long showers. They say it’s about the journey not the destination – I think it’s about the company, I just enjoy my own.
